Borrowers must present any of the following to check out materials:

1.      Current Student I.D.

2.      Local Patron Library Card

3.      TexShare Library Card

4.      Panola College Alumni Association Membership card

Students may check out four books and two circulating videotapes/DVDs at one time.

TexShare members, Alumni, and Local patrons may check out two books and two circulating videotapes/DVDs at one time.

Local patron cards are issued to community members (12 years and older) within the Panola College service area, including non-registered students and/or CE students for $10.00 each to have borrowing privileges. However, a local patron must be at least 15 years of age to be granted computer use privilege. Documentation or proof of age is required.

Transient users (no local permanent address) may purchase a $10.00 local patron card (with a limited and expiration date enforce) for Internet access privilege. However, a local reference, for example area relatives or employer’s information is needed to be entered into our system for contact information. Local patron cards with materials borrowing privileges will be accorded to users with local permanent contact information.

A borrower must use his/her own card for any checkout transaction. Library cards are non-transferable.

 Fines & replacement costs

Books are due in two weeks with one renewal. Videotapes/DVDs are due in one week with no renewals. Fines for overdue books are 25 cents per day. Fines for overdue videotapes/DVDs are $1.00 per day, and fines for overdue reserve items accumulate at the rate of $1.50 per hour. Maximum fine for a single item regardless of type is $50.00. Replacement cost for any lost or damaged item is $50.00 non-refundable, which includes price of the item and processing fee. Lost plastic video case covers cost $1.00 each.

 Lost/inactive library cards:

Current Panola College students can get an ID card replacement at the Student Services Department. Non-students must purchase a local patron card for borrowing privileges. Replacement cards cost $10.00 each. The Office of College Relations issues the alumni membership cards.

The Library honors the old local patron library card (paper with metal bar or plastic). For lost card, a local patron must purchase a new card. Our system requisites a reactivation process to restore the patron’s borrowing privilege. A $10.00 reactivation fee will be charged for this process.

 Non-circulation:

Reference books, periodicals and newspapers are for in-house use only.

Two reserved stations are designated for local patrons use. These terminals have a two-hour checkout limit per day. These computers must be checked out at the Circulation Desk prior to use. Local patrons can print a maximum of 50 copies per day at 10 cents per page. In the event of Computer Lab full-house capacity, students may have precedence over local patrons on the use of these two reserved stations.

A copy machine is available on the first floor of the Library. A $1.00 copy card dispenser is available on the wall next to the copier, which will allow the user to copy 10 pages per card. $5.00 copy cards, which will allow the user to copy 50 pages per card, can be purchased at the Circulation Desk. Copies are 10 cents per page both for students and local patrons. The Library staff is unable to make change for bills larger than $10.00.

Microfilm and microfiche reader printers are available in the Library. Copies can be made from these machines using the same copy card dispensed at the copier machines and cost the same for students and local patrons. Faculty pays 5 cents per page.

A 24-hour book drop is available outside the Library for after hour returns.

Reserve items are kept at the front desk. Instructors designate if the items may be checked out and for length of time. Some reserve items are audiovisual and require the use of headphones. Students must provide their own headphones.
